Be My Eyes is a free app that connects blind and low-vision people with sighted volunteers and company representatives for visual assistance through a live video call.
How it works
Every day, sighted volunteers lend their eyes to solve tasks big and small to help blind and low-vision people lead more independent lives.
Blind or low-vision person requests assistance
As a blind or low-vision person, whenever you need visual assistance, our volunteers are happy to help. Through the live video call, you and a volunteer can communicate directly and solve a problem. The volunteer will help guide which direction to point your camera, what to focus on or when to turn on your torch.
Sighted volunteer receives video call
As a sighted volunteer you can help just by installing the Be My Eyes app. A blind or a low-vision user may need help with anything from checking expiry dates, distinguishing colors, identifying and searching for objects, reading instructions or navigating new surroundings.

” I am a user of Be my eyes app. Living life with vision impairment, sometimes it gets difficult to find help around and thus one has to wait to find someone who can assist them. may it be reading a print, identifying the colors of your clothes, helping with navigation and description of one’s surroundings, all of them is not easy for those with blindness without assistance. But through Be my Eyes, assistance can be sought virtually which makes it easier especially in times during the Covid pandemic wherein social distancing has become mandatory. I have personally used this app several times and everytime I did, help is just at the tap of the button. One can customized their primary language to anything they are comfortable and that’s it, the volunteer is available to resolve the issue for you. I think it is one of the best apps for visually impaired.”
